Runtz: lineage, aroma and the whole Runtz family
Runtz is the strain that launched an entire family — Pink, Rainbow, Venom, White, Maraschino. It is also, confusingly, a brand name. This guide covers the cultivar; if you are after the producer, we have a separate Runtz brand guide.
What Runtz is
Runtz is a cross of Zkittlez and Gelato, bred within the Cookies family. Zkittlez brought the bright candy fruit, Gelato brought the creamy dessert weight, and the combination turned out to be unusually easy to breed from — which is why so much of the modern menu carries the Runtz name.
Runtz is usually classified as a balanced hybrid. Its descendants pull in different directions, which is why Pink Runtz and Rainbow Runtz are listed as hybrids on our menu while Venom Runtz is listed as an indica.

Sweet fruit candy over a creamy base, with a light gassy edge. The candy note is the family signature and it carries through every descendant.
